How the game works
Merging
Any three or more fruit of the same rung, joined edge to edge, form a cluster. Tap any tile in it and the whole cluster collapses into the tile you touched, one rung higher. Diagonals never count. Where you tap decides where the new fruit lands, and that is the most useful piece of control the game gives you.
The ovation meter
Every merge feeds the meter by the size of the cluster plus the rung you merged, and every merge bleeds two points back off it. At ovation five everything is worth five times as much, so a run of six quick merges beats twelve careful ones.
Stars
Completing every goal earns one star. The second and third stars are score thresholds set at roughly one and a half and two times par, so a set you already cleared can be replayed for a better result.
Common questions
- The board said there were no moves and re-dealt itself.
- That is deliberate. If no three touching fruit share a rung, the loose fruit is shuffled in place for free. Cages and wax seals stay exactly where they were. It costs no moves and no seconds.
- I cleared every goal but only got one star.
- The second and third stars are pure scoring thresholds. Replay the set and chase bigger clusters at a higher ovation rather than merging every three that appears.
- My daily streak reset even though I opened the game.
- The streak counts nights where the Daily Trick was cleared, not merely opened, and it rolls over at local midnight. Your full history is kept in the 28 day calendar on the Daily Trick screen.
- The camera button does nothing.
- iOS is refusing camera access to the app. Open the Settings app, find Red Harlequin Fruit, and switch Camera on. Picking a picture from your photo library works either way, and the portrait is entirely optional.
- Where do my photos go?
- Into the app's own folder on your device, cropped and compressed. They are never uploaded, never shared, and can be deleted from the Portrait Studio at any time.
- Can I move my progress to another device?
- Not at the moment. Everything is stored locally with no account and no cloud copy, which is also why nothing about you ever leaves your device.
- I lost my progress.
- Progress lives in the app's container. Deleting the app, or using "Clear everything" in Settings, removes it permanently. There is no backup we can restore from, and no server that holds a copy.
- How do I turn the music or the haptics off?
- Settings has separate toggles for music, sound effects and haptics, plus a track picker and a "calm motion" option that strips the ambient animation. All of them are remembered.
- Are there in-app purchases?
- None. Gilders are earned only by playing, and they are the only currency in the game. There is nothing to buy, anywhere.
- Does the game need an internet connection?
- No. The app makes no network requests at all and every mode works in airplane mode.
Accessibility
- Dynamic Type is respected throughout; every label scales with the system text size.
- Light text on a deep crimson ground, chosen for contrast rather than mood alone.
- "Calm motion" removes drifting backdrops, sparks and confetti.
- Haptics and sound can each be switched off independently.
- Every control carries an accessibility label for VoiceOver.
